Though the Vatnajökull region is rural and marked by wide open spaces, visitors to Southeast Iceland will find numerous dining and shopping possibilities as they travel through the region. There are numerous petrol stations conveniently located throughout the region, most offer food and supplies. In, Höfn you'll find the discount supermarket, Nettó, handcraft stores and many other services. In the wintertime there is a farmer's and fish market in Pakkhúsið in Höfn on Saturdays.
