The National Electoral Commission of Iceland has announced that the Local Government Elections will take place on 14 May 2022. The nomination deadline expires at 12:00 pm, 8 April.

Nordic citizens acquire the right to vote and eligibility when registering their residency in the municipality. Other foreign nationals acquire the right to vote and eligibility after three years of continuous residence in Iceland.

Polls in the municipality will be in the following precincts:

Hofgarður Öræfi, Hrollaugstaðir Suðursveit, Holt Mýrum from 12:00 pm and closes as soon as possible according to Article 66 of Act no. 5/1998 on Elections to Local Councils, there will be polls in Mánagarður Nesjar from 12:00 pm - 22:00 pm and Heppuskóli Höfn open from 10:00 pm - 22:00 pm.

The voter shall inform the electoral committee at the polling station by presenting an ID card or personal identification or in another satisfactory manner in the opinion of the electoral committee. If they are thus entitled to vote according to the electoral register, a member of the electoral committee will hand them one ballot.

The electoral register is available in the municipality's service center and is accessible during opening hours. If there are any comments on the electoral register, they should be referred to the administrative and information officer or send a comment to the email address afgreidsla@hornafjordur.is.

Voting in absentia takes place at the District Commissioner's Office at Hafnarbraut 36 Höfn.

The electoral register is available at the reception as of 20 April.
